LA CAÑADA
Status: Under Construction
Materials: Boulders, river rock gravel, flagstone, water feature
Flora: California native, Desert Museum Palo Verde, citrus, and existing lawn
In this La Cañada landscape, we redesigned for fire safety while creating privacy. To meet defensible space requirements, we cleared plantings within five feet of the house and installed river rock, boulders, and potted succulents. We maintained part of the lawn with updated irrigation to create a fuel break against rolling embers. For privacy, we planted evergreen natives, including Manzanita and Salvia. The family's love of citrus led us to add Eureka Lemon and Persian Lime trees near the street, providing both screening and homegrown fruit.
