REBUILD & REIMAGINE IN ALTADENA
Materials: Decomposed Granite, Gravel, Concrete & Kebony
Flora: Museum Palo Verde, Desert Willow, Blue Flame Agave, Golden Barrel Cactus & Desert Marigolds
In this Altadena landscape, we designed a desert-inspired sanctuary for homeowners rebuilding after the devastating Eaton Fire — turning loss into an opportunity to create a fire-safe landscape tailored exactly to their vision. Drawn to the sun-baked aesthetic of Santa Fe, the owners envisioned warm, open spaces softened by drought-tolerant planting. We developed a colorful front and back yard featuring Agave, Ocotillo, Desert Marigolds, Palo Verde, and Desert Willow — species chosen for both their beauty and resilience in a fire-safe landscape. The backyard is designed for evening living, with a lounge area, outdoor kitchen, and hot tub positioned for stargazing. We layered privacy throughout the space using hard fencing alongside hedges and vines, creating a sense of seclusion without sacrificing the open, arid character of the design.
