In this Santa Monica garden, we transformed a 600 square foot lot into a native plant haven for birds and butterflies. Taking advantage of the site's morning sun and partial afternoon light, we selected colorful California natives that bloom throughout the seasons, providing continuous nectar sources for pollinators. Privacy plantings along the alleyway create an intimate space while offering habitat for local wildlife. A centrally placed bird bath serves as both a water source and focal point for the garden. This sunny lot shows how native plants can deliver vibrant color while supporting local ecosystems in compact urban spaces.
